Rice cake

I was indispensable a rice cake to greet and celebrate the new year. Bigger one is called "Kagami-mochi". "Kagami" means a mirror. Mirror is worshipped as a god from sncient times. And mirror is a symbol of the sun. We pray to the sun for wishes to be peaceful for the world with rice cake.
I pounded (*)five-sho steamed rice into cake. To make a rice cake, it is used a mochi rice as a ingredient. These rice has more sticky than nomal Japonica rice. Soaked a mochi-rice overnight in water and steamed. After that it pounded. I wish you a Peaceful and Happy new year!
*one-sho measure = 1.8 little = 0.477 U.S. gallon

To start with fresh and full of vigor, still I have to house cleaning in office and work-shop for New year!

新年を迎える為の餅つき！２臼に分けて５升を搗（つ）いた。店は済んだけどまだ事務所と工場の片付けをしなくちゃ。皆さんも忙しいでしょうね。良い新年を迎えることが出来るように年末までしっかりと頑張りましょ～。
